Judge Poland earned his bachelor's degree from Colorado State University in 2009 and his law degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2011. He practiced law privately from 2012 to 2023, focusing on juvenile defense and child welfare litigation. From 2021 to 2023 he also taught at Metropolitan State University, and from 2023 to 2024 he served as a Magistrate in the 1st Judicial District.
