Judge Billings-Vela earned her law degree at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Before she became a judge, she was an assistant District Attorney in El Paso County and a magistrate in the Fourth Judicial District. She served as the Teller County Court judge from 2011 until 2015.
In July 2015 she was appointed to the Fourth Judicial District Court. Her docket is about half juvenile cases and half criminal cases.
