Judge Amico earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Arizona in 1989 and her law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 1993. Before joining the bench, she was a Deputy District Attorney and then a Chief Deputy District Attorney in Denver.
She was appointed to the District Court in 2012. In July 2018 she became Chief Judge of the 18th Judicial District.
