After graduating from Middlebury College in Vermont, Judge Bain taught high school English in Texas for three years. He then attended Cornell Law School in New York. He served 10 years as a prosecutor in the District Attorney's Office and three years as an assistant city attorney for the City of Colorado Springs, working on civil cases.
He was appointed to the Fourth Judicial District Court in 2011. He was Chief Judge of the Fourth Judicial District from 2017 to 2024. He now presides over a criminal docket and a civil docket.
